Shana Kaplan

Shana has been practicing yoga for over 20 years. She loves the grounding and warming nature of hot yoga and the way in which vinyasa helps to cultivate presence, flow, energy and well-being. She is also a student and practitioner of Ayurveda – an Indian system of medicine focusing on natural and complementary measures intended to help people maximize their health and realize their true selves. She believes that nourishing and nurturing the body, mind and spirit means making lifestyle choices that take into account individual imbalances, changing seasons, life phases and even time of day.

For Shana, yoga and Ayurveda have given her tools to work through some of her life’s biggest challenges and heartbreaks…to appreciate and celebrate the wonder and joy life offers…and to recognize and be guided by her inner voice. She sees teaching yoga as a way to help others to fill up their toolboxes with strategies that will assist them in similar ways along the path of life.

Shana got her 200-hr yoga teaching certificate at Baptiste Power Yoga in Boston, and completed a 200-hr foundational Ayurveda course through Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health, as well as a related course focusing on uniting the practices of yoga and Ayurveda. Shana is currently completing her 300hr training at Chakra Power Yoga. She is a non-practicing lawyer, a student at the BU school for social work, and a mom to three girls and two Labrador retrievers.
